SESSION INFORMATION

Where your session is held?

You are welcomed to come to my fully equiped home studio in Manotick, Ottawa or choose on-location (at an additional fee) where we can discuss options such as the comfort of your home or somewhere that has a sentimental value to you.

When to book your newborn session?

The best time to photograph a newborn baby is when they are between 5-14 days old, after two weeks babies are a little harder to settle and things like colic and baby acne can start to flare up. You can contact me at any time during your pregnancy to give your due date, a tentative booking date will be set and when you arrive home from hospital with your brand new baby you can contact me to arrange a suitable day for your session.

How long will your session take…
Newborn sessions can take up to 3 hours, please know I allow plenty of time for snuggles and feeding.

What about props for sessions?

Your session will be personalized during our initial consultation to include colors and props. I have various blankets, wraps, hats, and headbands for the entire session but if you have something you’d like to use, please feel free to share your ideas. I love using family heirlooms and homemade blankets to personalize our session.

What if you need to reschedule?

No problem! As a mother of three, I know first hand that life can bring unforeseen circumstances and illnesses can creep up on you. If possible, please try to contact me at least 24 hours in advance in the event that you need to reschedule. I will find a time for you!

What happens if my baby is hospitalized after birth?

I will defiantly accommodate for rescheduling for any type of hospitalizations (premature birth, jaundice etc…). However I do ask that you keep me in the loop so that we can choose a new date as quickly as possible once your released.

Proofing process?

Three weeks following your session, I will email you with a password and let you know your private online proofing gallery is ready. You then view, choose and order from the online gallery which will remain active for 2 weeks (14 days). Once full payment is received your products will be ordered; depending of which package you choose it can take 2-3 weeks for delivery and longer for canvas or albums. All images will be stored and archived after 60 days. Once the gallery has expired there will be a $25 fee to re-upload your gallery for an additional 7 days if you require more time.

Art products process?

When it is time to order, you will pick your favourite images and decide which art piece you decide to select. An invoice will then be sent to you with payment details. Only once payment is made will your products be ordered.

Do you only photograph newborns?

I have choosen to specialized in newborn photography as it’s my passion. However I am qualified and always enjoy to encapsulate the excitement of the expectant mother, watching these newborns grow and capture their cute little personalities into the toddler years. Also I always encourage families to take yearly photographs as in 15-20 years from now these photos will cherished a bit more then the ones of themselves.

Maternity:

When should you schedule maternity photos?

As a general rule of thumb, maternity sessions are scheduled shortly after family and friends have been let in on the exciting news. This gives us plenty of time to schedule a day that works well for both of us. Recognizably, these photos are generally taken when you are showing; typically 28-34 weeks into your pregnancy.

How many outfits should you bring to the maternity session?

For the sake of variety, two to four outfits are typical for a maternity shoot; although it is up to you if you want to bring more or less. I always recommend bringing a backup outfit or two just in case you’re not “feeling” the outfit you had planned to wear.

What should you consider when planning maternity outfits?

My biggest piece of advice is to wear something you feel both comfortable and beautiful in. Secondly, a non black or white top that is form fitting enough to showcase your baby bump is ideal. I always send my clients a ‘what to wear guide’ to put everyone mind at ease or help get ideas flowing.
